"The Rediscovery of Bioethics" Scientific Symposium
celebrating the 25th anniversary of the German Reference Centre for Ethics in the Life Sciences (DRZE), taking place on September 16-17, 2024, at the University of Bonn.
She will contribute to the Panel Discussion on "Bioethical Principles for the 21st Century," addressing the evolving challenges posed by new technologies like genome editing and artificial intelligence, as well as urgent ecological crises such as biodiversity loss.
The detailed program for the DRZE 25th Anniversary Symposium includes various sessions and panel discussions covering topics like the interdisciplinary challenges of bioethics, developments in bioethics from international perspectives, and ethical principles for the 21st century. Notable speakers include experts from various universities and institutions worldwide, with a special focus on connecting philosophical, ethical, and practical approaches to current bioethical issues. A highlight will be the presentation of the German edition of "Principles of Biomedical Ethics" to James Childress.

To mark the 25th anniversary, the DRZE hosted an international scientific symposium titled "The Rediscovery of Bioethics," conducted in both German and English. A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the German edition of the seminal bioethical work “Principles of Biomedical Ethics” (Beauchamp/Childress), completed at the DRZE, to Professor James Childress.
