Judit Sandor, director of CELAB participated in the landmark initiative on the formulation of new human rights in the twenty-first century. This plan was launched within the HURMUR Project.  (“HURMUR: Human rights – mutually raising excellence” project.) Since the end of the 20th century, human rights discourse has brought up a sizeable number of “new” human rights. There are several fundamental questions which the academia and international stakeholders have just recently started to explore regarding these “new” rights – the origins of such rights, the functions and the rhetoric of these rights and the role such “new” rights can play in the field of human rights law. The conference “New human rights of the 21st century” focused on 21 human rights newly acknowledged or debated since the dawn of the 21st century. Divided into the following categories: rights related to identity and personality; rights to well-being; rights related to the exercise of public authority; rights related to new technologies. The conference brought   together leading researchers in these fields from all over the world. It was the first global conference ever devoted to the exploration of the new human rights in such magnitude. During each day of the conference seven “new” rights were explored. The international conference was held in Tallinn and this event will be followed by an academic publication of a book in which each chapter will be dedicated on a new human right.
